Why Freeze Dry?
Lyophilization or freeze drying is the process in which water is removed from a product after it is frozen and placed under a vacuum, allowing the ice to change directly from solid to vapor without passing through a liquid phase.
Freeze dried food is sealed in a moisture & Oxygen proof packaging which ensures freshness until opened.
It is a fun and unique experience when you pop a piece of freeze dried candy in your mouth!
Many freeze dried products can be enjoyed with dental appliances or even no teeth at all!
Whole foods retain upto 97% of their nutritional value. As well, make a nice light snack for when you get out and enjoy nature.
Product freezes to sub -30
When under low pressure and the trays are heated, the frozen water in the product evaporates
Adding water to many freeze-dried foods will return them to their natural states
The freeze dry process takes anywhere from 4 - 30+ hours
Freeze-drying removes 98% of the water in foods resulting in a shelf live of 25+ years vs. dehydrating removes about 80% with a much shorter shelf life of 1-5 years
Our freeze dry products are packaged to be enjoyed at the time of purchase and are not properly packaged for long term storage. The recommended shelf life for freeze dried candy varies from 4 months to 1 year.
